At the Australian Mungbean Company we understand that mungbean are a delicate dry vegetable – not a commodity – and that consistent quality is the key to customer satisfaction. Our entire business model has this guiding principle and that is why our product quality is superior to our competitors.
The sparsely populated rural region of Central Queensland is full of wide-open spaces, fresh air and clean water. Yet our farmers use the most modern, innovative and sustainable farming practices.
We source mungbean from our own farms as well as our partner farmers who together grow up to 10 000t each year. Central Queensland soils and climate are particularly well suited to mungbean production – in fact Biloela is where the Australian mungbean industry began in the 1970s. The warm climate means that two crops can be produced each year in spring and in summer ensuring that the Australian Mungbean Company has consistent year-round supply of quality mungbean.
Every mungbean delivery is identified with a line number and stored separately, and every farmer completes a Grower Declaration outlining the source and history of that line. Put together, this means that every bag of mungbean we send out to customers can be traced back to the farmer who grew it and the story of how it was grown.
From farmer delivery, to cleaning, to packing we have multiple quality control measures in place to ensure we deliver our customers exactly what they expect.
Our cleaning and packing plant must meet the exacting biosecurity standards set by the federal Department of Agriculture and is audited annually. Every bean that passes through the Australian Mungbean Company is accompanied by a Grower Declaration outlining the practices the farmer used to ensure food safety standards were met on-farm as well.
As a family business, you will deal directly with the guy who owns the company.
We can supply a variety of quality grades from Manufacturing or Processing quality right through to No 1. We handle large shiny green, large dull green, small shiny green and black mungbean varieties
From time to time we follow a crop of mungbean from planting to harvest on video, talking to the farmer and describing the seasonal conditions. We are able to supply a link to the video story of these ‘hero lines’ for use in your own Paddock to Plate marketing campaigns. We typically supply mungbean in 25 kg poly bags – laminated or plain. We can use one of our in-house bag designs or your own design.
Occasionally we handle other specialty pulse lines like azuki bean, kabuli chickpea, urid bean and chilka.
